"couldn't load flash plugin"

If you use chrome in ubuntu at a thinkpad x60s, and flash videos don't show, but give  "couldn't load flash plugin", you should do this.

type chrome://plugins/ in the chrome address bar, extended the libpepflashplayer and disabled /opt/google/chrome/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so

The new built in flash does not support old Core Duo processors.. :p So you have to disable it.

Eador under Ubuntu

This game is pretty good, if you liked MoM, HoMM and 4x games like that. Runs perfectly under wine 1.5.22 using Playonlinux. I can only describe Eador - Genesis as a mix of Dominions and HoMM 3.

Errors, OpenGL

I have texture errors in Dominions 3 too. I believe I installed some updates with install manager, then things went bad..

There are 3 ways to play Total Annihilation in Linux: wine, spring, and TA3D. If you run it in wine,  multiplayer doesn't work. Spring has a TA mod, but needs much more resources then the original.

TA 3D looks the best, but I can't make it run in Ubuntu, after adding the repositories, gives me an error, about unable to connect. Anyone managed to run it in Ubuntu 12.04?

Minecraft Ubuntu!

I found an easy way here, with a script to install minecraft..

Black screen bug fix.

Making trackpoint work!

Trackpoint is pretty slow by default in Ubuntu, and as you may notice the sensitivity slider does not help at all.

To configure the speed, you will need to install "configure-trackpoint" app.
For this program to work you will need "sysfsutils" and "libgnomeui" as well.

So use these commands at the terminal:

sudo apt-get install sysfsutils

sudo apt-get install libgnomeui-dev

Then install "configure- trackpoint" and run it as root

sudo configure- trackpoint

And then you will have a pretty quick trackpoint :)

Useful apps

Firs I wanted to make fonts & windows smaller. I needed a gui tweak app to do this. I used "Compiz config", and "Ubuntu Tweak", from "Software Center". Both are pretty strait forward, it's under "fonts"..

Other thing I try to configure, is processor clock management, I installed (this way) "CPUFreq", but I can only choose between 1670, 1330 and 1000 mhz. I  have to find a solution with better scaling. Any ideas?

I installed "System Load Indicator", gives a nice picture about what's happening on my hardware.

Other tings I installed are gimp, dropbox, skype, they work fine. Interesting that gimp and libre office is super quick compared to running it in windows, or running ms office.

From now, I will write posts about my journey in Ubuntu linux land whit my thinkpad X60s. I have been using it, for about five years, first with Windows xp then Windows 7 with an ssd. Firs I liked Win 7, but as time passed the system became more and more unstable and slow. I even installed Windows 8 for a few days, but I don't really like "metro" interface, and the whole OS became sluggish after a few hours of use.

So my "old" thinkpad looks like this:

        X60s - spec
        core duo 1.6
        3 gb mem
        csx 124 gb ssd
