Lords of Magic, one of the best MoM like 4x game

There are games you pay a few times, than get bored, delete it and you never feel like playing it again.. Lords of Magic is not like that. Maybe it has to be the art design, the game mechanics, or the feel of a game that makes you feel like playing it again. Only few games can old well.
Was made by Impression Games and published in 1997 by Sierra. When it came out, the hype (it is the mix of MoM and LoR2) and bugs killed it, even it had lots of promise. Luckily a year after the developer made a "Special Edition" with more scenarios and killed the bugs, but still since it was then "old news" the repaired game did not get the reputation it deserved.
Why this game is still enjoyable? It has a distinct, partly hand drawn art style, not too fairy like as Heroes which still looks nice. Runs in new windows versions nicely. The game mechanics are complex and well thought. The main map is turn based, battles are real time whit pause (like Baldour's Gate or other Infinity engine games). There are eight factions, representing elements fighting in a fantasy world were the balance was broken by the Death faction. Firs you generate your hero and faction leader rpg like, choosing class and side. Every hero can command three unites, and unites consist of 1-3 man or monster. Your first task is to get a stronghold, a city to become a leader, this means you need to free a great temple of a faction. If you manage it, the games becomes Heroes like. There are no missions, the Death factions units will attack you more and more, and to stop this you will have to kill their leader at the end.
